Seeking an Unmanaged VPS

I'm planning a new long-term project, and could use some recommendations for good unmanaged VPS provider.

I strongly prefer to have defined resource limits, rather than dynamic, and am looking for at least 4gb of RAM. The server hosting would have to be reliable, unlike nearly all hosting providers out there that promise up-time in the high 90 percents, but can't deliver on it (ex: Dreamhost, Bluehost, Hostgator). I will also need to be able to purchase additional IP addresses.

I'm not looking to spend much more than $30/mo on it.

We're looking at coming out with a limited number of Xen vpses.

The plan will be something along the lines of:
- 2GB RAM
- 70 GB Disk
- 1 H/T Dedicated Core
- 1TB Bandwidth
- 2 IPs

Price: $7/mo

All the resources above would be completely dedicated (no overselling at all) and you can combine plans. It's limited because we can only do this on 1 node and not make a loss. CPU is X5650 (2.66 GHz). 23 VPSes on the node, that's it.

Node Specs are:
48GB Ram
Dual Intel Xeon X5650 24 Core Dedicated Processors
4xTB HDD RAID10
1Gbps Port
Location: Wilkes-Barre, PA

Stats from our OpenVZ, oversold but NOT overloaded nodes (taken from SolusVM):

Phoenix1:
16:46:56 up 297 days, 37 min, 0 users, load average: 4.00, 3.95, 3.32 (24 H/T cores on this)

Phoenix2:
16:45:57 up 106 days, 21:32, 0 users, load average: 0.50, 0.41, 0.36 (16 H/T cores)

BUF1:
19:47:41 up 115 days, 3:54, 0 users, load average: 0.58, 0.70, 0.66 (8 H/T Cores)

Should be all ready to go in a few days.

I don't usually "promote" holderhost like this but I think we're going to be offering a pretty unbeatable deal here.

haha. Yes I think the only deal I've seen that's almost as good is: http://abusivecores.com. We can do additional IPs for $1.5/mo. 🙂

They look good, but their plans don't really match what I'm looking for. Their plans with the amount of memory I need have too much else, making them too expensive.

Currently, I am using Scala Hosting for FP and they have been amazing so far. However their unmanaged VPS plans may be a bit over your budget for the specs you want but they are certainly good. If you are fine with 2GB of Guarenteed RAM and 4GB of burstable RAM, you can get that for $29 which is within your budget.

Ramnode is pretty decent. I use their VPN service for a shoutcast server and I haven't had any problems with them. In the attachments, there's a screen shot of most of what they offer. But, you can view their page here http://ramnode.com/vps.php I also want to add that their support people respond relatively quickly. It's self managed and I had issues so I opened a ticket. Within ten minutes, they contacted me.

If I were you, I will go to 4Goodhosting.com. My experience with these guys are truly awesome. They have fast servers, competitive prices, and their support replies within few minutes to the questions I ask!! Servers are very fast and reliable. So far, I haven't seen any outages. I can proudly say I am hosted by them! I would recommend this host to anyone who needs high quality web hosting.
