Attention SEGA fans! Get ready for a blast from the past because the one-time video game console manufacturer has decided to create a line of classic console themed laptop computers. These laptops are being released in Japan, of course, and are limited edition.

According to S. Byford (2013), "A representative of Sega says that the idea to develop laptops themed on Sega hardware has been in gestation since 2011, and there was much deliberation over which consoles would be the most popular among fans of the company today. Each model is offered in '"light,"' '"standard,"' '"high-spec,"' and '"premium"' configurations, all with 15.6-inch 1080p displays and up to Nvidia GeForce 650M graphics with a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 processor. You can also buy the lid shells separately, allowing you to switch between "consoles" at will. Each PC will come pre-loaded with full Windows themes including wallpapers, icons, and music from various Sega releases."

Each SEGA Note PC, the official moniker, is based on a classic SEGA console such as the Genesis (Mega Drive in JP), Saturn, and Dreamcast.

Additionally, there is a blue version that is obviously a nod to SEGA's most successful mascot- Sonic the Hedgehog.

The SEGA Note PC's will be sold through Ebten and can be found only in Japan.

As a long-time SEGA fanboy, I would love to have one of these Note PC's. Do I dare try my luck acquiring one? Prices range from $1,050 to $3,000, and that would not include international shipping costs. In any event, what a great move by SEGA!

Nice looking Sega laptop. I wonder does it come with the PC versions of popular Sega games like Sonic.

Could this be the beginning of Sega getting back into building consoles to make a console for gamers who dislike the Wii U, and future Sony and Microsoft consoles which may be disappointing because of motion controllers, online only consoles, and no used games rumors?
