Ive seen a lot of this going on lately. Who would want to buy another forum or website? I can understand if someone was buying something like google or yahoo or something that might be worth it but why would someone want to buy a (for example) free hosted forum with a domain that is about expire?

They may see a good investment opportunity, a way to expand their current web properties and such like.

well i think they would really only be paying for the database, but then again they would have to pay $30 for it to be hosted or to get a copy of the database. I wouldn't if it was me

A lot of people like to buy out the competition, it's called, buying, put ads on it and then make money. -lol-

I'd say it's a good idea. Think of it this way...an admin who loves his website/forum no longer has time to care for it, so he would like to sell it to someone who can.

I dont think I would buy a forum from someone but I recently bought a domain name from someone. I could care less what they did with the forum that used to be attached to that domain name. Lol.

I would not mind buying a DB that has over 10 billion members and arround 9999 billion posts.. -D-
