Selling your website

When you say "prepared to be sold" what do you mean? What is the difference from the state that your website is in right now?

When selling a website you want to ensure that you maximize the price you get. So... prepared to be sold entails:
- Earning a solid regular profit. (and I'm not talking about holderhost here.)
- Tidying up things for the new owner that you never got around to.

When you start a website, do you eventually plan to sell it? Or does it depend on how successful (or unsuccessful) the site is? Also, at what point do you decide whether or not you'd like to get rid of your site?

I don't plan on selling websites but if I get a good offer then I would certainly consider it.

If I feel that a community I started has great potential but I just haven't the time and/or passion to run it anymore then I opt to sell it. I've only done this once though. ...and so far I am really happy about the deal because the forum is doing better than ever. I once had a Chess forum that had a really interesting concept where members actually played games and just noted their moves in each post. It was great for a while but I started to get involved in other projects and commitments that I decided to just give it away to one of the members. About a year after I did that I found out that they closed down the forum. 🙁 So based on those two experiences I think it's best to sell a forum you think has a lot of potential to do well because a person who buys it may take it more seriously compared to those that simply takes it over at no cost.

I don't think I am ever going to sell my site. I would probably just delete it or give it away if I ever gave up on it.

I've never sold a website/forum but it depends on the price and my attachment to it, I think.

I have gotten to the point where if I do sell my sites, they will all be to the same dude. I would just want them all gone and done with instead of dealing with all these people and selling everything, just seems easier. 😛 I don't have that many sites anyway, and the person who buys them can always sell them for more profit. ^.^
