How substantial is the role of SEO in the viewership of a website? I am asking this because I have seen in some forums a board about this with posts like it is part of the life of a site. Being SEO capable, how many hits in a month can a site get from searches in the search engines? If your site is number 1 in the list of Google, is that an assurance that your site's hits will drastically increase?
The more clicks and views you get from search engines will increase your rank but there's lot of factors that place a part, however there is somewhat correlation between page views (especially via search engine result page clicks) and search ranking.
