SEO Mod - Is it worth it?

Is it worth Installing the SEO mod on your forum?, people say it makes the forum slower, is that true?

Whether it is worth it or not is up to you and if you care about search engines. If you are not really bothered about search engines and your ranking don't worry as they won't make much difference really.

As for slowing it down it shouldn't have any noticeable effect although it depends how advanced the SEO mod is and how well it is coded although that is the same with any mod as the more a mod does the more it slows down a forum and the worse it is coded the slower it makes the forum.

I know the SEO mod for phpbb2 works great but I have heard bad things about the phpbb3 version.

I use vBSEO for vBulletin SEO. I've seen that I have loads of links in the yahoo search for avatarff.net so it must help with indexing at least.

There is more then one for phpBB3. I think there are some working ones although the one in the mod db has alot of issues.
