Okay, so I've made my forums URLs as SE friendly as I can humanly get them with my skills and experience. Unfortunately, I have to include a few dynamic functions.

Is this a well constructed SEO URL? I have to include the functions that are there, and directory structures are out of my reach.

Code:
http://www.stellarrecharge.com/forum/Thread-New-PostBit?pid=1302#pid1302

How can I improve this if not already as SE friendly as myBB can get?

Can you do it like I have done with php3?

Code:
http://www.tubewood.com/usefull-tricks-to-learn-to-your-dog-funny-youtube-video-t575.html

This seems pretty effective way, since topic title is in url, and even with doublicate topics there is topic number in the end to make uls unique.

or even http://www.forumname.com/topic-title-goes-here would work. Please note that pretty URLs really don't do a lot for SEO. Sure search engines like them more but I can give you a whole list of Big Boards that don't use pretty links and still have AWESOME SEO. The best use of the pretty links IMO is for users, they are easier to remember and look nicer. 🙂

That's because those big boards have already established a web presence and don't require SEO to be known. It's not like they started a month ago and became a big board; it takes years of being recognised and subsequently, people will search through typing their name into Google or straight into the web browser without the need for search engines.

Seems like your hands are tied, but even so it's not a horrible URL structure.

Yeah, the PIDS must be includes for the Last Post feature to work. So...idk if I can make a rewrite for that, idk how.

If i remember correct, MyBB's Google SEO make much better URl structure than this. Try that.

@DavidL:
I'm not good in SEO, but Labrocca (admin of Hack Forums) once told, SE friendly URL's doesn't make any difference in search engine's view. I used default MyBB link structure in my previous Forum, and it did have a good search position.

Everyone has different opinions on how useful they are. People will never agree as to how useful they are and how big of a priority they should be.

Have to agree with MrJohn here. Never a bad thing to have your keywords in url too 😉
So, after you get that google-seo to work, think a moment before making that thread title 😉
+rep to You MrJohn 🙂

They absolutely make a difference. I work with SEO for a living and can tell you that most major search engines will look at it. You want to avoid the garbage at the end of your url, the ?pid=1302#pid1302 part. It should be something like http://www.yoursitehere.com/forum/topic-title-here

Here is a mod on MyBB that does this for you and many other SEO things:

http://mods.mybb.com/view/google-seo

In terms of an extra advantage, it actually doesn't. Friendly URLs are good for human readability, but just switching to that doesn't really matter, when you have content, HTML layout, and that stuff being much larger factors. In a ~100k forum on HawkHost, who by the way has throttled our speeds dramatically, we actually cut down a lot of our speed by disabling the URL portion of Google SEO cause it actually really slowed us down (we'll actually be moving cause their throttling has driven me nuts).

Besides, tell me how Digital Point or Hack Forums, for example, are successful without it. It's all really about content, and the other stuff that Google SEO provides (meta description, sitemaps, etc.) are what improves SEO.

Well, I never said that good looking SEO urls are more important than content, layout, or any of that stuff. Obviously good SEO practices should all ready have these things taken care of. If you have the keyword in your URL it is absolutely going to make a difference. It may be small, but it still will. As for your host, sounds like you have some issues there. I have HawkHost and have never had a problem running sites with 1,000 uniques a day and more.

So instead of debating on my QUESTION....can I get some help?

To answer your question, don't worry about it. You could either get rid of it or leave it as is, but it wouldn't really matter.

Likely also is just my server, but they really oversold that one. The load has sometimes gone up to 10+ (though it's fine if it is less than 16, I believe). Hurricane has given me a lot of headaches and I'm sort of glad to be leaving.

You don't need to bother too much about it. Just get the unique content and you will rank in SE.

Thats true, content, content and more content is the best way 😉

I too have read that adding SEO type mods does not realy help you in the long run, that most bots today can read it all. I may be wrong. I know I go to big sites like yahoo and even some of thier URLs are not even human friendly. Then again, they are yahoo.
