Is SEO outdated? It seems to be getting harder to get rankings and i don't know whether it's worth the effort?

Not yet, but a lot of people are switching to social marketing.

SEO is still not outdated, techniques have been improved to go with digital marketing. Social media playing a major role in ranking websites and spreading the news are more strong way of ranking your websites.

I don't think SEO will ever be outdated as long as people continue to use search engines. I think the only thing that people are starting to notice is that there are less tricks and solutions to get to the top. Rather, SEO is more of a byproduct than a process now, one that comes with good content and a loyal fanbase. But it's definitely still present, just in a slightly different form.

There is a little changes in SEO, it is same though.. you have to work on content creation part if you want to get benefit in SEO, thats it.

More seo means more competition on the first page in Google. So the more people use seo the harder it will become - unless you find new ways.

SEO techniques are still same. There is no changes in search engine optimization.

I believe that SEO is not only alive, but thriving.

SEO tactics that aren’t worth your time:

Keyword stuffing
Buying directory links
Content spinning
Optimizing purely for “ranking” outcomes

But some SEO tactics are still alive and well:

Keywords that support customer targeting
SEO copywriting and on-page optimization
Link attraction
Internal link optimization
Technical SEO (anything designed to make your site more accessible to search engines)
Optimizing for engagement and conversions

The thing is SEO has just evolved its not dead.
