What are your opinions on the Seperation of Church and State?

I think it's a load of BS. The First Amendment doesn't say anything like that, it simply reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof . . ." When schools are calling Easter Break, Spring Break, they've taken it to the extreme. School calling Spring Break, Easter Break ≠ Congress making law.

The lack of separation between church and state is the only reason that homosexuals don't have civil rights in this country. I'm not trying to make this debate about that; I'm only giving an example.

People in the United States would rather have convicted felons in office than Atheists.

I admire the USA for their strength of faith, you have a far higher percentage of believers than we do in the UK. Having said that we have and still do call it Easter holidays, we've never had Spring break, how weird is that?

That's a load of BS, people would rather have convicted felons in office than Christians. FYI, it's not just Christians who don't agree with gay marriage, not saying I don't but you can't blame everything on religion. America and the world is extremely anti-religion, I'd say it's pretty hard not to see that.

Actually it is true. Gimgak, America is extremely religious. I have no idea where you got that it's anti religion.
In America, at least 95 percent of our politicians are some kind of "christian" sect. I really have absolutely no idea where you are getting that from 😛
There has never been an Atheist House/Senate member nor Vice President or President.

America is anything but religious. It might be in it's roots, but religion is portrayed as anything but a good thing in todays media. A teacher can get fired for saying "Merry Christmas" around here... you're saying we're not anti religious here?

Since when has the media represented the actual opinions of the people?

and anyone can sue someone, they don't have to have a majority in favor of them. If you offend 1 Zeus-worshiper, for example, you can get sued.

It shows what people want... and I can say this is a general stance among people, at least around here where I live. Probably a lot different in the south where some places have like a church every 2 feet.

Where do you live?

And an earlier post gave exact stats on this, as I recall.

MA, the stat is of course different per state where around here Christians might be around 50% or whatever while southern states might have 90%. I'm of course saying this from the point of view from what I see here, so yeah in different places it'll be completely different.

I live in the south, TBH. Everybody's a southern baptist here.... except southern methodists.

Not Surprised, when I was passing through Tennessee there were around 5 or so Baptist churches per small town... at least. No doubt what you see is completely different than from what I see.

Hmm, let me count. There are three churches in a town I'm not too far from. There are also multiple churches in smaller areas, which are barely even towns.

That's BS. I've never heard of that happening and I've had teachers saying that before that are still teachers (yes, at a public school). Now if they started preaching to the kids, then they'd most likely get fired.
