Hello Crunch'rs

Today we bring some good news to clients and future clients alike which should allow your website and our company room to grow, As of monday 31st January 2011 we will be introducing a brand new powerful server to our fleet making the current one redundant over the coming month. We are also moving network leaving BURST.NET behind as they are holding us back, although we have not had any downtime so far the network is very poor at burst and we have now signed a deal with Ubiquity in one of theyre 6 datacentres in the USA, we value our custom and wish to provide you with the most stable and top of the range service.

What this means for you?

On monday our brand new server will go live and all your cPanel/WHM accounts will be moved over to the new server - This will be done to allow clients plenty of time to transfer over allow the DNS plenty of time to update.

On monday your accounts will be transferred and any new accounts will be on the new server named "crunch" as of monday, We will not turn off the current server "nut" untill the 23rd Feb 2011 giving you just under a month to move your accounts.

What will be replacing the old server?

The new server is a real powerhouse server and will allow us more flexability in the future to add upgrades, the new server will be as below :-

Processor - Dual Intel XEON Harpertown E5405 - 4 X 2.0 GHZ
RAM/Memory - 4GB DDR3 RAM
HDD/Hard Drive - 2 X 500GB SATA II Hard Drives
IPV6 Support & The Current IPV4
Connection - 100mbit connection

Backups - We will now be utilizing a new piece of software we have called "R1SOFT" Which will backup every account daily as we currently do but this will be backed up offsite allowing you more security if ever any failures occur.

About the new network?

We are also moving network leaving BURST.NET behind as they are holding us back, although we have not had any downtime so far the network is very poor at burst and we have now signed a deal with Ubiquity in one of theyre 6 datacentres in the USA, we value our custom and wish to provide you with the most stable and top of the range service. As they say you get what you pay for, our new provider although nearly double the price for our server, use only the top of the range hardware which is worth it in the long run .

Ubiquity operates our own performance-tuned global IP network (AS15003) with dense connectivity with all major fiber transit hubs in each city that we do business in. Ubiquity's facilities operate on exclusively carrier network grade equipment from Brocade, with meshed internal network infrastructure supplied from Cisco. Ubiquity's custom implementation of sFlow and other technologies, matched with strong implementation of direct transit providers and peering relationships, have allowed us to establish an extremely resilient high performance network.

----------
Network Consistencies

There are a number of high standards that you should expect from Ubiquity's network between every one of our service locations.

* sFlow-optimized smart-routing network that significantly exceeds performance over traditional BGP-only networks
* Global protection against distributed Denial of Service (dDoS) attacks, such as TCP SYN and Smurf Attacks
* Fully redundant Brocade core network with XMR 4000 and 8000 series carrier network routers (up to 1.92Tbps internal capacity!)
* Premium quality upstream with providers such as PacketExchange, XO, and nLayer connected with diverse paths
* Non-oversubscribed upstream connections, peering points, or internal network
* Redundant & meshed connectivity between all network access devices and providers
* Dense fiber connectivity with very high availability and fully burstable capacity
* Guaranteed 0% packet loss over Ubiquity's internal network and 100% uptime (SLA)
* 24/7 human network monitoring from Ubiquity's Bloomington, Illinois Network Operations Center

PacketExchange
PacketExchange

PacketExchange runs a smart-routing network with 500+ peering providers and over 250Gbps transit/peering capacity in global points of presence. PacketExchange's network is the first built upon Force10's terabit E-Series routers, and maintains their own 10Gbps backbone stretching between Asia, America, and Europe. Unlike many local cable providers, PacketExchange's network is tuned for performance, using a custom implementation of Foundry Networks sFlow technology.

nLayer Communications
nlayer

nLayer maintains a high quality United States-based network stretching to prominent peering points in Europe with more than 900Gbps interconnect capacity with other major networks and 34 core IP network POP's. nLayer's reach into the Canadian IP exchanges in Toronto and Montreal make their product a unique and useful addition to most BGP networks.
XO Communications
xo

XO Communications runs a transit-free network and categorizes themselves as a Tier 1 NSP. Formerly known as Nextlink Communications and Concentric Network Corporation, XO maintains massive fiber assets in the United States - leasing transport to other Tier 1 NSP's such as Savvis. XO boasts such customers as Internap, who uses their network as one of only a few that are ubiquitous amongst their P-NAPs, as well as thousands of others.

What do I have to do?

When you receive the email we will be sending once everything is ready and are ready to switch over to our new server, all you have to do is change over your nameservers within your domain panel and your site should be live shortly after that when it propegates. If you are hosted on an .crunch-host.com subdomain your account will be moved automaticly and you will not be required to do anything at-all.

What benefits does this bring?

Well for a start your websites should perform faster and any processes on the server will run more smooth as we have more processing and memory power, also your data is more secure as we have implemented a new backup system taking over from WHM's inbuilt backup programme.

This also allows Crunch-Host more flexability to upgrade if needed as the chassis will allow more ram and processor upgrades than the soon to be redundant "nut server"

Once again thank you for your continued custom and we hope you get full use out of our new server.

If you have any questions or problems we are available 24/7 via our support ticket centre - http://support.crunch-host.com

Many thanks!

On behalf of Crunch-Host.com Management.
