Setting up a domain name ... ?

Your host should have DNS settings (they look like nsx.yourhost.com and nsy.yourhost.com, with x, y usually are integers). You have to use DNS settings to point to those settings. Then you have to configure through your control panel (cPanel via. Add-on Domains, DirectAdmin, etc.) where your domain is pointing to (your forum). Then, if your forum wants to use your new URL, you have to edit the configuration file (phpBB uses config.php) to reflect the changes. Hope that helps.

I changed the name servers and it removed the DNS settings. I guess if i just change the server settings in my forums ACP it should work ... ? There is no way to edit the forum URL in config.php.

Code:
General -> Server Configuration -> Server Settings -> Server URL settings -> Force server URL settings
Is that right?

I just checked, it's in ACP > Server Settings > Domain Name/Script Path (depending on what you want here). However, it doesn't look like you've pointed the domain yet.

You're welcome. Good to see you've taken the time to...

A.) Learn something new.
B.) Buy a domain to make your forum half-decent. 😛
