Many of us who have been running forums for a while have been customers of multiple web hosting providers. So, from your experience, what is the best, overall, shared web hosting provider? What is the worst? Why?

So far, my best experience has been with HostGator. Affordable, reliable, and fairly secure. Only thing is.. it's shared hosting, which means, if my forum gets too much bigger, I'll have to bump up to something stronger.

My worst shared web hosting experience would have to, by far, lay with Siteground. They simply cannot handle .php scripts well, and routinely harass their customers to upgrade hosting.

What about you guys (and gals)?

I use reseller from HostGator to provide others with free web hosting that is online 100% of the time since we have started.

People have different experiences with hosts. Some people may not have a positive experience while some may find them the best. I can give you one person that will write an essay on how much they hate Hostgator from his experience with them.

Whether you have a good experience with a host depends on what you are doing with your account(like what scripts you are running), the activity of your site, the server your site is on, the time of the day you request the support, the person that answers you ticket and who else is on your server as well as other things.

The best for just a website could be different for somebody who wants to host a forum. One host may be the best for hosting a small forum but another host may be best if your forum gets alot of traffic. There is never really an answer to the "Best" host.

I don't know what kind of hosting SiteFrost is, but I like their hosting.
