How do you feel about members on your forum that reply with one/two word posts? Do you give them a warning?

No.

More seriously I wouldn't want to risk antagonizing a member. The only reason I'd give a warning would be for posting content which put them in breach of the forum's rules. Sometimes a simple yes, no, wow, ha ha etc is an appropriate reply to a post.

don't mind

edit:
I do not mind if people make short posts if it is relevant to the conversation. However, if someone is only ever making short posts then I will talk with them. It's a hard balance - on one hand you want every post to be HQ, but on the other you don't want to discourage general discussions, notifications firing off, thread bumps, and real social interactions. It's a balance & it's contextual for me.

If they're earning something for that post, I do mind. But I hate the "yep" or 'I agree" ones when the OP is asking for more than that. I don't give warnings for it.

Doesn't really bother me either way, but it also doesn't really foster much in the way of discussion. In a thread titled "Pepsi vs Coke," for example, sure, you could just say "Coke" or "Pepsi" and post without anything else, but then it just kinda leaves you wondering why that person prefers Coke or Pepsi. Is it the taste? The different flavors offered? Just what you grew up with? Even just a short little sentence adds a little more depth and can encourage others to reply to you and foster a sense of discussion among other users.

I wouldn't give warnings for it though, unless it became a rules violation. Like zappaDPJ said, sometimes a one word response is the appropriate reply. It may not foster much discussion later unless someone asks follow up questions, but it's still a valid, acceptable, and appropriate response. Every post counts, no matter how short it may be.

I personally prefer more than 1 word, but I won't get after any members for it, unless its rule-breaking like a swear word (since we are a PG community).

It depends on the thread they're posting in. If it's in a games thread, then of course a short comment is fine. However, if it's in a thread outside the forum fun section then I would encourage my members to post more than just one line.

It can become annoying when it becomes consistent and they essentially become labeled a spammer because of it. A few words add no meaning to a discussion.

I mean we all do it anyway, I end up posting and just saying " HI " in the hello/goodbye topic XD

As long as you are on the subject and not going out of the book store then I'm good with that, why ban or warn people about posts that are short?

Still understandable if you go on forums that you pay to post and requires more then one line then that can be understandable in that case as you being paid to post

I have noticed many forums where administrators do not treat their members well. While it is true that users must adhere to the rules and behave appropriately, coercive treatment often leads to the opposite effect. In contrast, treating users respectfully can foster greater cooperation within the forum.

I don't.

Short comments don't bother me unless it's for spamming purposes.

I don't think we should be as strict as we used to be on a platform that many people think is dying. So, I'll pass on disciplinary actions unless they're purposely doing it to spam.

That's my two cents.

Sometimes a short answer is the one needed. Instead of useless banter just to have 10 sentences, my members can also post a shorter message , if it does answer the query. Otherwise, long or short, it's just spam and gets deleted.

I agree with this.

And not everyone wants to just like or react. Some would rather comment. I'd much rather see a short comments than just a like, too.

Yes, low-effort posts like these bug me. They don't add anything to the discussion whatsoever.

Although, I have to admit... I even told one member that did this on a regular basis to leave. Yes, harsh, I know, but I won't tolerate it at all.
