Is there such a thing as short term SEO and long term SEO? I'm asking because when I think of things such as finances, you'll have short term and long term investments. So is there short term or long term SEO?
Depends on the type of SEO, but in short SEO takes time to build up so in theory its longer term. the only way traffic will be quick would be paid traffic on PPC etc.
You can make SEO shorter if you are very good at backlinking to your own website that is in the same niche as your own and they have very good levels of traffic and DA (Domain Authority) the more sites linking back to you with greater DA and perfect reputation with google and other search engines will in turn reward you with higher positioning on said search engines.
Also to remember google also sees websites you are associated via links outs and links in too, so if you associate with spam sites google may down rank you if not linked to spam sites and have great content you will certainly go up in the ranks. there is webmaster consoles to searches engines too to tell them im not related to this spam site which allows you to disenvow the association with any said site.
just a little of the basics i know of over the years but there is more to SEO than meets the eye that i have not dealt with yet myself but know enough to get the job done 🙂
As per my research and experience, short terms means, you have just optimise the ON page of your website and long term you are ready to work on at least six months with all SEO techniques.
I don't think that there is something known as short-time SEO. A proper SEO strategy takes time. Sometimes a few years. While short time SEO may be just on page SEO, which is essential but won't help you rank anywhere.
Their is no short term or long term unless you want to rank for certain keywords. If you just want for few keywords then it is a short time like a micro niche website which had only few pages.
Its your choice to choose which site you need and how long to stay in competition.
Imagine you create a website for a certain event. Once the event concludes there will be no point in running that website, therefore, you might shut down the site. On a site like this, you can do short-term SEO. you will have to focus on keywords that target the event. Imagine you are doing a "trade show 2022." Will this website be relevant in 2023, probably not, so, you will basically target keywords for short term ranking.
