Should Administrators have the most posts?

Yes, just my opinion. But, I don't think you should be restricted to posting little.

I don't want this to turn into the Mac vs. PC thread so lets just keep it at that... 😛

No not in all cases. When a forum is small or just starting I notice that most admins have the most posts. Once the forum gets to around the size of FP there's no doubt some member will get more posts than the administrator himself. Just my opinion.

I don't feel it should be some kind of implied rule that the administrator should have the most posts on the forum, but members of a community should interact with the administrator occasionally. It's sort of like the mayor elections in your town. You want to vote for a mayor you know, one you have personally met normally. The administrators lead the forum, so I feel the members who the administrators lead should have a developed friendship with the administrators. I'm not saying this requires having the most posts, but this does require some posting, some participation, and some contribution. I currently have the most posts on my forum, as I have a bit more than 15,000 posts. My co-administrator is second on the list with around 10,000 posts I believe. It may make statistics misleading to some people, but I for one still think that many posts is normally a good thing if the posts contribute. It shows dedication.

Excellent post CMT, and I have to agree entierly. I lead my forum's post count with almost 2k posts. The only other person with a high post count like that has 200 posts 😛
If I had a co-admin or something I would probably end up having a lot of posts and as would he/she, but I'm not in that situation quite yet. 😛
Overall, Admins should have the most posts 😛

Yes, Cmt you said it perfectly I also repped you for a great descriptive post. Everything I wanted to say 😀

Anybody could put it as the fact that the Administrators can do their job and get some posting in when they have the time. It doesn't always have to be about posting. Just because you're the first member on the forum doesn't mean you have the most posts. It works like just because you're the newest member and have posted a little bit doesn't mean you don't have the least posts. It works the same way for the Administrators, except the Administrators have jobs on the forum. Members want to contribute and post on the forum if they like it. That's pretty much how it works for the Admins compared to EVERYONE ELSE on the forum. When the Administrators post it shows that they want to be friendly with the members and whatnot, and it's also a sign that the staff are not bad, just like cmt said.

Administrators should post daily, however I don't think they must have the top post count just because of a position. Depending on activity, the amount of posts vary because there are other tasks to attend to being such a high position.

At least when you are starting this is likely to happen. You create many threads just in guidelines and pilot threads to spark activity. After the place is well established they may surpass you. It is not biggie so long there is activity and good environment as well as respect and some order.

I think admins should be more active but in most forums mods are the ones who are most active.

I don't think it's a bad thing but it the admin has a large percentage of post more then all the members, it's not necessary a good thing.

I agree. Then again, a big chunk of the posts are from the Administrators are out of the forums total posts, but it crossed the line if it's so bad that the Administrators have to be embarrassed.

I'm not the top poster on my forum. As long as the admin posts as much as possible at the beginning and then goes on and posts everyday it is fine.

Right now a moderator is #1, before that I was #1 for a short time, and before that another moderator was #1. I have dedicated staff. 🙂

Head admins should usually have the most posts on smaller forums. Once they're a certain size, though, this shouldn't occur as often.

Yep. As long as all staff members are posting, it all counts as true dedication. 🙂

This is a good question. Just started our Forum and was wanting to wait for a few post to start before jumping in. I want it to start out naturally, which I know can be hard but we have a great subject. But I do plan on being active with this forum. I think the admin can learn from his community as well as teach people things on the subject he has the forum targeted to.

In the early days of the forum Administrators need to straighten everything out to attract members. Then they need to post to keep the members active. It's a never ending cycle, for starters, forums are NOT a success over night.
