Should FBI have access to encrypted messaging?

After the attempted assassination of former President Trump, the FBI has struggled to retrieve information off the suspect's phone, including encrypted messaging, and that's due to privacy. Should the FBI have easier access to that messaging?

If a law enforcement organisation could be trusted to use the information responsibly I'd say yes. As things stand in both the US and the UK I'd say not without a warrant and even then I'd be hesitant.
