Google's system isn't ready for a site to be SEO'ed on https. I explained this in a later post...

It's ready if you start off as https. Only time it will break any form of SEO is if you are already established without https.

OC was established on http for just over 5 years before moving to https. The change quite significantly boosted our search rankings within the first week.

I'd recommend it. Hosting my website on OVH, I can get Let's Encrypt which they are amazing. They are even sponsored by others like Mozilla, Google, Cisco, Squarespace.

Your host like many others recently, already has it set up for you (I checked on your site: working https url as example). You just need to configure IPB to use https.

I have not got SSL, other then the cloudflare free account option

HTTPS means you're running SSL, regardless of who is providing it.

An HTTPS stack looks like this:

• HTTP
• TLS (SSL)
• TCP
• IP
• Ethernet
