Should I get the Samsung Galaxy S8 or wait for the iPhone 8?

Hello all,

I am thinking about getting a new phone. Should I get the Samsung Galaxy S8 or wait for the iPhone 8? I currently have the Samsung Galaxy S5 and I want to change to a different brand as I have been using Samsung for a very long time. I was therefore thinking about getting an iPhone. Which phone would you recommend?

I would wait and see what the Note 8 has in stock as well as the iPhone 8. Seeing as your phone is still probably working, I would hold out and see what both have in store. There is no reason not to wait. Plus, it would give you extra time to save up for the new phone.

Honestly unless you have a really good reason for switching over to iOS, I'd suggest to keep with Android. Switching ecosystems means you're going to lose all the current apps you have. (Some cases there may not be a readily available replacement. Or if there is one it's likely going to cost you. Even then it doesn't guarantee you that you'll get all the same features as the app it's replacing.)

So that means keep the Galaxy S8 in mind. But don't commit to it just yet. I'd hold off and see what the Note 8 has to offer. I mean we know the Note 8 is coming. It will likely to be revealed next month on the 23rd, then probably up for sale within a month after that. Rumours right now are it will follow past trends from the S7 and have a 6.2" "infinity" display with the home button on back to maximize the screen area without increasing the phone's actual size much, if at all. Plus either an Exynos 10nm core or a Snapdragon 835 cpu.

So, I can't tell you what is coming exactly, but expect a slightly bigger battery. However, the next iPhone will feature a new OLED screen, which is much more conservative on battery compared with a LED screen. Additionally, the new A11 chip will be more power efficient.
