Should I personally message fans of a different page?

I currently own a Facebook page for my blog which seems to be getting likes but very very slowly. The official page of the girl group my blog is about has 80 000+ fans. Would it be a good idea to message people who comment on the official page's posts to like my page? I am currently holding a giveaway too so I feel like this will entice people to like my page. Any thoughts?

I would say no, I find it annoying when people go around spamming, using other people to promote themselves. It probably wouldn't give you a great reputation.

I think you are okay to advertise your giveaway. If you just post 'hello please come like my page' it can come across as annoying to certain readers, and can give bad effect on your blog. Instead link them to the giveaway information and who knows, maybe some will come to check and bring the likes.

Given that it's Facebook, I'd say go right ahead. It's not an actual competitor site, so you may as well.

No, facebook has too many spammers, i don't recommend you to proceed to this.

I don't think you should message them.

It comes off as a very desperate grab for attention and many people find that obnoxious. Just like how people get angry/annoyed/upset when others send PM ads on forums.

Instead, if you're looking to gain attention for your page/giveaway... Maybe you could message the page with 80,000+ fans to ask if they'd mention your blog or that you're running a giveaway. In all likelihood they probably wouldn't have an issue with that. And it'd be better to try this than sneak around and risk your/your blog's reputation.

I wouldn't message them either. There is a lot of SPAM on Facebook, so the likelihood that anyone would actually read your message is extremely unlikely. Your best bet is to make an official post and ask members to share it as part of the competition guidelines. The more members that share the post, the more chance others will join.

Done a bit of that. Didn't find it works. People tend treat messages from strangers generally as spam. Many people give it a shot and then move away from DMing others as it puts them in a category they do not wish to be in.
