People should probably be judged by both intentions and outcomes. Good intentions matter because they show what someone meant to do. But outcomes matter too, because sometimes things still go wrong. For example, someone might try to help cook dinner but end up burning the whole kitchen. The intention was good… the result, not so much.
So it makes sense to look at both. Intentions tell you the person’s heart was in the right place, but outcomes show what actually happened. Sometimes you mean well, but life still says, Nice try 😅
As one example, the intention to murder might be reasonable though it has to be punished. For instance, someone being abused might get to to the point where they can't take it no more. That's different than someone robbing a bank.
I think intentions is the accurate measure of the character of a person. He or she might not be able to get the result they hoped to achieve but if their true intentions are good, they are good people.
