This is a tough one as you may not always know their circumstances and whether or not it helps them to be able to collect Social Security.
I guess if they are quite wealthy and have a lot in their savings, it wouldn't be wise to allow them to as that would be taking away from those who genuinely need it.
I believe that it should not be restricted by the government. It's not about if he/she needs it or not, and I don't think the care if they get it or not in most cases. They have contributed to society in many other ways, so, they should have the right to do so if they choose to.
If yes they should give it away to the people that really need it.. I mean they are already DAMN rich and so why need more money. Then again I really do want the government to take it, nope
The goal of Social Security at the beginning was that as you worked through your life, you contributed to this fund. So, you should be entitled to those contributions no matter what. The issue is that the fund had and is continuing to be used as an IOU for funding other programs. This was never the intention or used for it. This is why we're not able to continue to provide for people in the future.
Well, the thing is, social security is deducted from the rich if they work. In that case, they have to pay it back, because they paid into the system. Does anyone see a way to work around that?
My first thought was why would they need to.......? If you're rich enough to pay all your bills in the first place then you shouldn't need it. But in the end I decided that if they paid it in like everyone else, they have the right to get that back like everyone else.
Social Security isn't a handout. People pay into it, so the wealthy or anyone has the right to access it. Of course, the rich should give it away I think, but that's something for them to choose.
