On Christianity Haven there is a strong male presence and at times I feel that pushes new women members away. There have been female members who feel that they don't get enough empathy when they post a prayer request or about a struggle they're having and on a Christian forum you would expect more members to post that they care. I long for more females on CH.

Do you feel there should be a balance of male to females on forums? Males and females tend to post differently, do you feel it affects your forum?

Our forum has more male than female members. However, I find that there are an equal proportion of female to male shitposters. What I mean by that is that in a group of 100 posters, 20 female, 80 male, you could have 1 female and 4 male shItposters. So it works out evenly lmao. I don't really think that a person's gender makes them more empathetic. It really depends on the person. A fair percentage of our absolute worst members over the years have been female. LOL!

Honestly let the world be as is. Don't force this balance to be honest. It will turn more people off. It sounds like SJW game plan which is affecting many people in IT too where they are forcefully employing women or asking people to support that diversity. Life is mixed and uneven in reality, forcing it will only piss off people and make things worst.

What kind of age group do you have for your forum? The majority in CH are older males and you know how they were taught not to express their feelings? That's what I'm talking about. They rarely type out concern for others and when we have a prayer request, women get upset that hardly anyone will respond in the thread. That's why a couple of women have left the site...they just didn't feel like people cared enough (meaning men).

Most forums I been to has always been more males, like FP and whatnot. But it's good to have mixed since it's always nice to get answers from females point of views.

I don't see what difference it makes, On my old Metal music forums we had about an equal amount.

well, it does for the next MIB film, Men In Black with an Female in it!

How does one force a female to sign up on a forum?

No, to try to force gender balance - by restriction - is over-PC I think. But more ads to get another gender might work.

Which person here said anything about restriction?

Our initial audience was mainly 13-25 year olds. But the community's been around in one form or another for the best part of 20 years. The members have grown up with the community over the years, so on SakugaCity, the majority of our members are now in the 25-40 age group. Of course there are people of all ages, but that's where the majority of members are.

@overcast: As for the tech industry. That was necessary. I had a professor that said something along the lines of "women get married, have babies and go on maternity leave. Men are the better employee because they won't be taking time off. Most of the women in this class won't be working in the industry after they have kids. But I'm willing to bet that the 5 men in this class will. " LIKE WHAT? Women have to return to work, there are mortgages to be paid. He was speaking of the design industry and most of my class were female, 15 women and 5 men in that class. Now I have formal computer science training as well because the two have some cross-over. Now, a company must have 10% female employees. That's only 1 woman to every 9 men. That's not forcing a balance, it was forcing inclusion. There are so many talented women out there denied these jobs for stupid reasons like my professor's. The 10% rule ensures that the best of the best among female grads are considered too. It also encourages women to go to college and study computer science. You'll find that it's not forced anymore because there are more and more female grads.
