Should voice cloning be allowed?

Voice cloning is using AI technology using someone's voice and have them say something they've never said. Should this be allowed?

A new documentary about Anthony Bourdain has made use of this technology with approval from his estate. I'm not sure why they felt the need to have him say things he never said unless it was something he had written down but never spoke out loud?

I can see the dangers in fake source videos concerning other people like politicians though so that's a big downside.

What are your thoughts?

I don't mind this at all but would like to see them seek premission then just take someone's voice that is my thoughts on that

I don't think that they'll always ask permission and that's absolutely concerning.
