Should we add a Chatbox in this Forum?

adding a chatbox helps us to get more friends easier so why not? 😎

If they had an external program such as http://www.shoutmix.com/main/ or http://www.cbox.ws/ it would probably be acceptable but then they'd have the issue of members posing as other members or whatnot.. On those you can just type in any name and start chatting.

There's always the PM system, IM, or email availabilities on this forum. If the user puts up the IM or email publicly and allows for users to IM or email them. But I believe the PM is always available (I think).

Please correct me if I'm wrong on something...

As was said already, chat boxes seem like a good idea and often have some great conversations but since the host doesn't allow actual ones and we'd be forced to external which allows all the anonymous's basically.

I don't see how all that anger gets balanced out.

There is a user who has made a fp chatroom. If not there are pm's and the comments feature on all profiles. 🙂

I agree with Dylan, using a chatbox/shoutbox makes members lazy, they tend to not post on the forum as much, when a chatbox is installed the forum posting dies and people don't have much to read any more apart from the chatbox. 😉

Fair enough, but this has been bought up many times before and the suggestion has been rejected for the reasons already stated in this topic. Only reason I put my point across bluntly 😛

I agree with sbfc as I have seen it been rejected aswell by the admins. Search the feedback forum and you will see.

Even if we did add one, would you be able to ban certain users from the chat box if they spammed it? Like you can do with PM's?
You would have less control of running the chat box probably.

Yes, but a spammer could easily use a proxy or something if they really want to spam the forum.
Also, I don't think all chatboxes have that feature.

Fact is, a chatbox will never be added on this forum.

This has been suggested before, and rejected.

In my opinion, this site doesn't need one. Chatboxes are just activity stealers.

I agree with Tim, we have got to much social interactions, PM were you are allowed to invite users, Comment system, and some chat threads.

I agree. I kind of think the Comments system takes activity even.
