Does your website have a shout box? I have noticed in sites and forums with a shout box that it adds dynamism. Members would log in and post a shout. In terms of hits, the shout box is a good contributor. There is one forum where the shout box list keeps on moving fast due to lots of posts. If you want more traffic, add a shout box.

I used to have one until my software board no longer support the app.

In my opinion a shoutbox is both good and bad.
It's good in that it allows members to communicate quickly, though bad in that same regard because most will only sit and chat in it rather than contribute around the forum. I've seen it happen many times in the past.

I have no shout box on public forums but installed one on private forums, it is useful for Mods to discuss together and manage forum better. Anyway, this is optional and it depends on you, you can install or not for your forum.

Exactly and its why I didn't use shoutbox on our forums.
