Something I've always been keen on is making sure users have a reasonably sized sig. One thing that annoys me more than anything on a forum is having to scroll past huge amounts of other people's sig art and random links in order to get to the next post.

As an Admin, what guidelines (if any) do you have in place regarding Signatures? Do big sigs annoy you? and what action would you take against a user with a huge sig?

Discuss.

I keep signature limits at 300 characters and don't allow images because I don't want to have my forum get cookie stuffed -😉-

I don't believe I have a limit right now. It's just that if a user has an obsessively long signature, I'll just kindly PM them to please remove a couple of things and reason things out with them. I don't necessarily have a strict policy with big signatures, and I don't usually have trouble with any signatures issues because all of my members seem to be very smart on keeping themselves decent.

I do the same thing as well.

I have a code that automatically reduces sig images down to 400 X 150 , and with combined text, and image, can't go over 300 height.

I use to be lenient, but, lately, it got out of hand, and had to get back to enforcing the rules.

Here we have a policy that there isn't any set limit to the size of the signature overall but we do PM people with excessively big signatures.

One image of 450x180 pixels and two lines of text, or six lines of regularly sized text.

I don't enforce it until someone goes dreadfully above the limit -~-

Well my siggy limit is a simple one.

Either 500x500 max OR just don't make it stretch the page.

This has been working for me =]

Yeah like when you were a moderator on FF and you warned me for my signature that I had up for almost a year. -lol-

I believe we have it at the default 550 characters, but for images we have it so anything more than 200 height will get infracted.

I rather enjoy looking at Signature art, and the creative lines of text in signatures on forums non-related to advertising. One of the key reasons I really don't believe in signature limits. My only rule is simple, if it slows down loading time for users considerably, or interferes with other's browsing (like page stretching) then it must be fixed. Offensive content is subjective, as long as it meets the natural forum rules it's perfectly fine ~smile~

I don't have a set limit, but I can't stand overly done, big signatures so in my forum guidelines it's stated signatures are allowed as long as the size is reasonable but if any of the staff feel it's too big or overly done they'll notify the member.

So far it's ok.

The only thing that is not allowed (and this is beyond the ToS) is flashing images, but that's through out the forum, not just in the signatures.

I've never limited people. I don't have many members so I don't see the point in limiting. Maybe, in the future, I will. For now I won't.
