I have no clue what they are:
The Bandz are now contraband. Schools in several states, including New York, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts, have blacklisted Silly Bandz, those stretchy, colorful bracelets that are creeping up the forearms of school kids across the U.S. And starting this week, all 800-some kids at my son's elementary school in Raleigh, N.C., were commanded to leave at home their collections of rubber band–like bracelets, which retail for about $5 per pack of 24. What could possibly be so insidious about a cheap silicone bracelet?

"It's a distraction," says Jill Wolborsky, a fourth-grade teacher at my son's school, who banned them from her classroom before the principal implemented a schoolwide ban. One student stole some confiscated Bandz from her desk, choosing them over the cash in her drawer. (See pictures of teens in America.)
Continue..

Stupidest thing I have heard, really. "They are a distraction". I have seen worse distractions than some bracelets.

Worse distractions- short skirts and short shorts.

"Whoops, dropped my pencil!"

I don't see a problem with them, I remember everyone had an addiction to Scoobies, small laces were you may several patterns and what not for your keys and what not, they got banned from school, even some people used them in the exam's to relax and think.

People have these things everywhere. I've yet to see a case in school where anybody took time away from their work to show or trade them.

In my experience schools tend to ban anything that's a trend. It's stupid and pointless, but that's basically what rules at school are most of the time.

I know these are kind of popular at my school (even I have some 😛) but it's never gotten banned or even close to that bad. i think they are overreacting

And that teacher should be happy her money wasn't stolen 😛

WOW, i though it was called animal bracelet or w/e

I live in Texas and go to a high school and they haven't banned them. Even my bro's elementary and they haven't banned em. i don't see whats wrong with them. Seems perfectly fine. I never even heard any one talk about them in class or even the hall way.

Sorry, what are we on about again?

Would i sound nuts if i said i had one that looks like michael jackson holding a baby upside down? 😵

Anyway, we haven't banned them (yet...) and hope we don't. (I'm only in it to get The dragons and the Phoenix. The only good ones. hurr hurr)

Silly Bandz? Aren't those those braclets that you just slap on your wrist and they make a slapping sound when you do so? i remember those being popular at one time. Not sure if those are what I'm thinking of. They're like flexible bands that when you slap them on your wrist, they make kind of a loud slapping sound? Or is that something else I'm thinking of?

Oh, i think i am thinking of the wrong thing. What i'm thinking of are those rubber little bracelets that have animal/object shapes. If this is what the article is about, i feel fine again. :3
