First impression that the logo doesn't catch my eye as it's little dark with the dark theme. I don't mind the dark theme but I do like the board icons and they really go well with the background dark affect.

Site Structure:
The way the forum is laid out is okay. I like the different icons you have next to each section. The one thing that I would do differently would I would make the descriptions for each section better and more descriptive. The descriptions you have there are a bit generic and they don't really do them justice. But I think you have the right numbers of sections on your forum so no need to change that.
To answer your question, you could just down size the technology section quite a bit and just add a little technology area to the general section. Or you could just do away with the technology part all together. Either way, you could turn your forum into a "general" niche` forum but I don't know if that is a direction you'd want to go in. That is completely up to you......
Thing you liked best about forum: Love the icons in front of each section....they give it more personality. Thing you liked least about forum: Better descriptions for each section.
You have a nice forum but I think there is plenty of room for improvement. With plenty of work and dedication, I think you and your forum will do just fine. I wish you the best of luck in the future!

I'm going to go off the charts and say I actually like the dark theme touch. The only issue is the text is too dark. If you're going to have a dark theme, the text needs to always be light or it will not be easily visible.
EDIT
For your #382362 a elements, try using a lighter color, such as #80dbdb . You may want to do the same for the logo. Bottom line, make text and website elements significantly lighter from the dark theme so they stand out and others can see them easily.
