"Single hop" Hosting

So ive been looking at the topics popping up in Web Site Promotion and the web hosting sites seem to be getting their hosting from or through another host hosted with "single hop hosting". (Do a whos hosting search on links)

I think before you guys try and do a hosting site find a site that has good rep. Also does whois on the sites, look for reviews. Because ive seen a lot of un happy people. I mean people having firewall issues, ip's being blocked etc..

This aint a good start for these hosting sites.

My Hosting site is powered by SingleHop dedicated server, their service is awesome. I have fantastic speed as well as good uptime.

Buy a dedicated server or VPS at the very least and be somewhat separate from the head host. A reseller will do you no good, and this is what I've seen too often lately.

Lee, If you get a dedicated from singlehop you have full control over the firewall since some problems people had here was the node (dedicated server) firewall blocked them and they can't change the main firewall.

Even if you go with another host using a VPS and the node's firewall blocks them, you can't do anything until they go and unblock them.

As TheHostBox said his friend has a dedicated server so he doesn't have to worry about that "extra' firewall.
