Should these be at the very bottom of your forum or at the very top? My forum had always had them at the top, but we are questioning if we should move it to the bottom. Any opinions?

It's more of a personal preference on the admin's part than anything. I personally prefer them at the top, but you may prefer them at the bottom.

I've thought about and even tried having them at the bottom of the index, but I just can't get used to the look of it and prefer to have it at the top.

I always keep it at the top because to me it is like a Front Desk. That is why on my forum the category is named "Front Desk".

I prefer it at the top, that's what I'm used to. And we want people to see any important announcements first 😉

Ive seen these on the bottom of forums before. I suppose it makes sense if you dont really have a lot of announcements or people introducing themselves. If you have a forum full of the same people who post daily / a bunch of regulars, then maybe the discussion forums should be on the top so your members can easily jump right into conversations.

I prefer them at the top, I think that it should be first thing you see on a forum, and if there are any important announcments then the user will see it without having to go all the way to the bottom of the page. This is just my personal preference though.

I have tried applying both to my forum and looks like putting it at the bottom works better for me. That is because the moment visitors clicked on my forum, they will directly see what I am about, no other distractions. I find that comfortable as well, given that if I am a visitor I would be rather lazy having to scroll to see what the forum is actually about.

It depends, really, I don't think it could be a major turn off wherever you put it anyway as long as you keep the on-topic sections strong. 😛

I prefer them at the top,
I hate have to scroll down to the bottom to find where annoucement and intro is or where the rules are
