What is the purpose of a sitemap?

It sort of makes it easier for search engines to index your links. When you update it, it also lets search engines know that you have a new link and you want that search engine to index it.

It can also help with users searching for certain pages.

So is this like a mod, then, that you can add to your forum? I think we actually have something like this if memory suits me right... but like death180, I never did understand it.

Be sure to also submit your sitemap at Google Webmaster Tools as well (and include it in the robots.txt if you have one).
