It's funny that they spent so little, given all the expensive cars and amazing effects. The effects are done by the people who did the effects for Avatar, 300, XMen: The Last Stand, Terminator 3 and AVP: Requiem.
Funnily enough, I loved 300 but I thought the effects were downright terrible. One of the worst effects jobs I've ever seen.
