The bassist of the cult US metal group Slipknot was found dead in a hotel room today, police said.

Paul Gray, 38, was found by a hotel employee at the Town Plaza hotel in Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa. An autopsy is planned for tomorrow. The death is not being treated as suspicious.

I use to like Slipknot a lot, haven't listened to them much recently since I stopped listening to Metal music, but it's still a huge disappointment when stuff like this happens.
Thoughts?
 
Terrible, Slipknot are all idiots especially Sid although I love their music was listening to them a moment ago.
 
Their old music was great, new music is ok. Needless to say Paul Gray was the backbone of Slipknot. One of the few decent members, and actually plays an instrument, rather than act like a dick onstage.
 
I knew a couple of their songs...but never liked them much. Devastating though.
 
ME and my friend were talking about this. I can't beleive he died 🙁
 
Why is it that so many great people are dying? Why can't it be Kanye West or somebody like that 😕
 
I know so many legends dying, he was one of the best bassist's around, sadly his wife was ready to pop with a kid, and that kid will have to grow up learning that his dad, the best bassist player in the world, died a week before his birth because of a drug overdose. Hopefully the kid will have some talent.

And Behemoth's vocalist cancelled tour dates because he's in the hospital for a blood illness. Hope for the best...
 
Sorry to hear about the death, but for me personally Slipknot are crap.

Hids concept album sucked but everything else he has done is awesome.

I'm surprised I hadn't heard this...
 
Don't make me barf. Dio was a ledgend. Lennon was ledgend. Gray was a decent bassist for a below-average metal group.
 
What would you classify them as? The nu metal charateristics are nearly nonexistent in their latest releases.
 
Dunno, haven't listened to anything new from them, always thought they were nu metal though.
 
Upon closer inspection, they don't have a page on the metal archives. So yeah, hard rock, nu metal.
 
I don't listen to SlipKnoT anymore.
But they are not metal.

They are hardrock.
