Small community or big community?

I prefer big communities. However, quality over quantity is very important to me.

Size does not matter to me, what I look forward is the topics and activities. If the forum is quite and only a couple of members are talking, I am not much interested in that forum. If forum topics do not interest me much, I might not join the forum

It's easier to manage a smaller community and sometimes it's easier to keep up with debates too, but if I'm looking for a lot of information and opinions on things (such as medical info/advice), then I'd prefer a larger community.

Size in terms of the membership is not really something I focus on. I'm more interested in activity levels. One of my forums has a lot less than a hundred active members but a post count in the millions.

The activities that happen on the forum daily are one thing that I consider and would always look at. A forum with lots of members, while the majority are inactive is just useless to me.

As much as I like a smaller forum, the maintenance costs don't seem worth it when Discord is an option

I prefer in between; a medium-sized community. I like it to be big enough where you can keep up with everything going on, but small enough where most people naturally know one another.
