The smart home is definitely one of the big trends with Google and Alexa being at the forefront of it. Whether you're on Team Google or Team Alexa, how do you feel about this trend? Do you already have different aspects of your home with smart technologies? Whether it's simply telling Google to turn the heat on, or telling Alexa to turn off the lights, this seems to be the future.

I own a Google Home Mini, but I've yet to put any money towards making my home a smart home. Someday I'd like to get the thermostat, the doorbell, and all of that great stuff, but I don't see myself spending that type of money anytime soon.

What about you guys?

I'm highly against leaving the 90's/early 2000's so a smart home is not for me. The only smart device I have is my phone.
You should check out that Disney movie Smart House. It'll make you think twice about it.

I have a Google Home mini but I don't have enough smart appliances to make full use of the voice command.

Alexa is in my home, Tablet, Fire stick and also able to talk to it on my PCs. But not an big deal at times since I rather not use it.

It's slightly concerning that our modern society is too lazy to get up, walk a couple of meters and hit a button.
This.

Also, "smart homes" are just a secret way for companies to spy on your every move.

I totally agree and that's why I got rid of my Amazon echo after a couple months before that one article came out about them spying on us.

I have a Nest thermostat, a Ring doorbell camera, and a couple of Google Home Mini's. 😛

Companies collect data, but not as much as you'd think.

As of right now we just have a Google Home. We live in an apartment so we can't really do a lot of upgrading 😛 I would like to in the future once we buy a house for our family get some other items even if not just for the fun of it 😛 🙂

Well, I am a crazy conspiracist and not to mention paranoid. I am also planning to buy myself an underground bunker and live underground so that I can prepare for the apocalypse...I'm just kidding lol. But seriously, I don't trust them that much, if at all.

I guess it comes down to personal preference lol.

I have a movie that has a computerized home. Starting with the lock that uses face recognition up to the switch of the lights. It was a utopian home that can be a reality soon. Even the stove were automatic and the air conditioning system as well. But the story of the movie had something to do with the control of the home that the owner had become a sort of hostage by the technician of the automation system. But for me I would like a smart home although I know that I cannot afford it.

Yep

I have my Google Home Mini, but if we're being serious, I haven't used it at all in quite some time. I know it's been at least six months since I've said "Okay Google..." 😛

I don't think that's a big secret. I'd say our smart phones are already being used to spy on 99% of our lives anyways. They're not missing much. 😛

Honestly, i find it useful to set alarms and timers, and check the weather. Not much more than that.
