I have to choose 1.1.10 because I don't like using Release Candidates versions..... it hasn't bee finalized and there may have a chance of more bugs.... I don't know because I rarely use 2.0 RC1.2

I choose 2.0 rc 1.2

Mainly due to it having better default features and a better admincp.

Oh and about the only thing I dislike about 2.0 rc1-2 is the package manager is a bit buggy which is set to be fixed by the final.

Right now, I'd say go with 1.1.10 unless you are starting a new forum. Either way you will lose MODs, so why not wait until it is final? The 2.0 package manager IS a bit buggy, but it is a lot better than 1.1's package manager (you can install on all themes).

I used smf for a long time, till I switched from it to many others to phpbb, and I say use 1.1.10 SMF 2.0RC is very buggy it can't install many mods without having major errors, if you don't want error's use 1.1.10. 😉

1.1.10 is the same thing as the previous like 5 versions... They dont really ever change anything in version 1.

Your kinda wrong, like MyBB, SMF and MyBB take there time in updating, thats why they are the both are the best, "free" and "stable" versions out of all software, but like vBulletin, Phpbb, IPB, etc they are all sort of off somewhere in there software.

Palace, the errors occur because you have modified the string that the MOD looks for. Not SMF's fault, the MOD creator's fault.
theezy, 1.1 Final and 1.1.10 are identical minus the (many) security updates, and 1 bug fix. 1.1.10 and 2.0 are not much alike however.

I been working alot longer with almost every software, except IPB, and SMF version 2.0RC is very buggy, it is not the mods, its the version it is not completed, so I know what im talking about mate, I worked on SMF for about 2 years, before I registered on FP. :great:

I've been using SMF for about 2 years as well. Can you explain the errors you get though?

And if you don't mind, what's your name on SMF.org?

What do you mean?

I mean as in, SMF and MyBB both take there time when updating to a new version in there software thats why they make 2.0RC, But the other software in this list, IPB, vB. Do not make a RC, and they always update their versions before it is even completed thats why the go into 20-30 versions just to get it right.

I never registered on SimpleMachines.org, and the reason is SMF is so simple why register? I never needed help..with smf I could teach a 7 year old kid in real life, and he can be smarter than a 18 year old who has been past college, and know like 15% of simplemachines and how it works. 😛 It is like a age 5-10 software that is to simple and to easy, thats why I moved all the way to phpbb. 😉

Just exploring the SMF community would reveal it isn't a 5-10 year software. The PMs on there have developed a ton of addons that no other forum software AFAIK has. For example typing [[t]] would link to topic 99, the way they have integrated the mod site and theme site into the SMF.org forum, the advanced themes that they use (http://docs.simplemachines.org is really a SMF forum, not a CMS), the topic solved system they use in addition to supporttopics.php just to name a few. In addition it has a large modding community.

That is why vBulletin are developing version 4.0 and not version 20?

You don't make any sense, an RC is just an update of their previous update, so SMF take out like 4-5 RC versions then go back and say ok so that's version 2 released. Seriously, SMF release like 4-5 RC versions for 1 upgrade

You obviously haven't taken a look at the source code, and how many changes they have done. It is very much a new code, as hundreds of (small and minor, but some fairly large) bugs have been reported and corrected.
See the bugs below:
http://dev.simplemachines.org/mantis

There are currently none or very few bugs for 1.1. If they just made a small upgrade there would be no bugs, hence no RC.
In addition, a RC is not an upgrade. It is a new version that has undergone an overhaul, not an "upgrade".

I am starting a new Webmaster forum, and I am wondering whether to go 2.0 RC1.2 or 1.1.10?

New forum I say go with 2.0. If you want to bridge it with a CMS you have to use 1.1 (or write code yourself).
You might want to take a look at which MODs work with 2.0 before you make a final decision though, as some popular ones might not have a 2.0 or a 1.1.10 equivalent.

I only really need a Topic Attribute Mod, as I can use the default Karma, but I cant find Topic Attributes

Thanks Kirisute, I kept looking in New Features, under Topic, +rep for you 😀
