SMF 2.1.0 Released

Wow, that's a long time to wait for releasing a software update! Surprised SMF is still around.
 
And they are still far far behind to other forum software 😛 Plus what they do and added is still OLD and nothing new COME ON 😛

That's why I stop using them 7 years ago 😛
 
All very true but the software remains more popular than people realize plus there are some huge active forums running on SMF e.g.

It's awesome to finally see this released. I genuinely didn't think this would ever come. The support forum is prettier now. I assume that's the new default style with SMF 2.1.
 
Well, I do not think that I will be going back to SMF
 
Amazing that they actually released it, but as previously stated in this thread: their contenders are still miles ahead. Even if it looked better and had more up-to-date extensions, I wouldn't use SMF just on the basis of being afraid for how long it would take for a new update to come.

Exactly, I’ve no doubts the software is good. However if it’s taken this long to make then the development team won’t release another update for a while.

It’s a similar fate to what is happening over at phpBB. Development has almost stopped even though it’s still and active project.
 
If it's mobile compliant that's good enough. When will MyBB jump in with phpBB and SMF?
 
I’m actually using SMF 2.1 for a new tech and web support forum I’m launching. HallTechAndWeb.com

So far, I like it! I just cannot afford to buy another license for XenForo. I wish their licenses allowed at least two sites.

I decided to move from SMF to phpBB. The new SMF was just not working right and it was outdated it seems. 🙂

That's what made me move away after six months, and that was six years ago. Plus phpBB has far more plugins and themes and not to mention better backend
