SMF

So has anyone really tried SMF here?

I have just installed it at http://pixelraider.com/demoforums/ at to be honest i'm quite impressed with it. At first I was expecting some tacky and slow forum software that a bunch of people threw together in a few months, but to be honest I have eaten my own words.

The default skin isn't particularly nice, but that can be easily changed. The account functions are all there, and everything you need on a bulletin board can be found. I am also really impressed with the speed in which you can navigate around the forums...considering it doesn't look particularly "lightweight".

I don't like the skins and think phpBB is more attractive/ is better, but SMF isn't bad by any means.

I have never used a SMF board before and I don't think I have ever been active on a forum that is powered by SMF.

Browsing around on that demo forum though, it seems like a very nice software.

Yea i have tried SMF... i find it ok.... not that much fun as phpBB or IPB....

I prefer Phpbb 3, but i definitely prefer it to IF and IPB

All the XD themes are awesome, too bad only 2 are free.

I liked my expirence with SMF, it was easy to install MODs and themes. The admin layout is very helpful and its pretty easy to manage.

I don't like the post view so much, that's why I use IPB. -D-

Isn't it almost the same?
If you are talking about the annoying "Logged" for the IPs, I made a MOD that deletes it.

I'm loving it. All my forums are powered by SMF. It's very easy to use, manage, and admin. Mods and themes take a second to install which is one of the main reasons why I use it. The SMF Support forums are also great and there's many themes/mods to choose from. 🙂

Does IPB have a 1 click installer for MODs? I looked at a demo, and couldn't even find anything for MODs.

I quite like the admin side of it but i just don't really like using it as much as phpBB3 or IPB. I can still use it but it just feels not right.
