SMF

I have in the past built quite a few forums using SMF. I stopped using it as a platform around 4 years ago when I had built a forum for a client using phpbb.
Are people still using it to build new sites?
I'm wondering If I should go back to it or just keep going with phpbb, If anyone is currently using these, I'd appreciate some feedback.

SMF was my first software that I used to start off with before I moved over to IPS. It was good.

I used to, but it was over a decade ago. A little confusing to use, and I don't think that it has aged well.

The truth that I moved away from SMF that the support was rubbish the update the forum was darn not easy and it's not simple to do, yet again high risk for getting hacked. And also the options that I wanted aren't there and the plugins are always working. I had to leave

SMF has some major perks like uploaders for mods and themes. I think for banners also. So if you're a newbie that can be a big help.
