Army Hut, a forum we had going, went down, a server change happened while i was on a trip and wasnt able to make backups, so Army Hut was gone.

However, I'm thinking, should we start up again?The hosting is for a year and the domain too, and I still have my IPB license. It's not the fact of content or such, but the fact of members. We posted around 3000 topics with only 30 members, hopign to get more, but none came. Is the idea of Army Hut good? Or are we just missing something?


Your thoughts. The team is also thinking of starting up an entire new forum, maybe based on a book series or such.

Or a clan forum.
(I still think the new layout that was suggested would have helped)

I had multiple backups, this is the unluckiest thing about this. THe backups were all on my laptop, which I used to manage the forum. But the hard drive got corrupted and had too many bad sectors one day and died, I had to replace it. :sad:

Yeah, the team was thinking maybe of a book forum. But something that got a bit more attention was a debate forum, talking about world news, politics, events, etc. It could be a good idea, but then again might not cater to certain audiences.

From what I have seen in the past debate forums are very hard to run. You will get alot of trolls it is like their playground. Then you will have alot of debates that turn into fights. Then you have to make rules fair and unbaised. You also have to have staff that can stand others views. Like if you have a gay member and there is a topic on if gays should be allowed to get married. He or she is going to have to ignore the hate and do their job. Debate Place(Which I belive is gone now) had this trouble,but made it work.

I thiink if you can make ir work though, go for it. It is a pretty good niche and not to much competition.

The problem with a clan site is the fact that we would have to play that game, and all kinds of problems could come of that.

I like the idea of a debate forum, I'm good at keeping order and seeing both sides of a story.
