So, is there REALLY any point?

My opinion in this debate is pretty pessimistic. So here goes.

Honestly....no....there isn't a point in making a new forum. Most of what I've seen last 1-6 months to closing down.

If not that...they go completely inactive. I've seen it too many times.

Just my opinion, but people here at FP see a new forum. They go for about a week or 2 until the next big thing, than they're checking out that forum or dealing with their own.

Than there's post exchange which works pretty good depending on who you're dealing with.

To the point. I think 1 out of many forums succeed and that is pretty rare. If you can pull it off than more power to you. 🙂

I wouldn't start a forum unless I could answer the key question:
- What's going to keep people posting/ creating content and coming back?

In the short run you can use Postloop and exchanges to build up activity, perhaps run a few contests etc. Quite possibly you will build up a nice community which is large enough to encourage members to constantly return. It isn't assured...

ForumCoin is one of the few other forums I'm active on, with the limited time I have. I'm not on there to make FC$ --> USD$ by posting. I remain active because I know the conversion of FC$ to $ is a good value prospect for a lot of members so the community will continue to grow.

If you don't have a value proposition that keeps members coming back, you (as the admin) are constantly having to maintain and grow forum activity through other means.
