Walking along an empty street, you notice a wallet. It contains $5,000 in cash, the address, and picture of the owner. Would you give it back? What if the picture looked like a wealthy-looking young man? What if the picture showed a frail-looking old lady?

Yeah, totally give it back. I couldn't live with meself if I were to keep it.

I personally would give it back. I know a few people in my wide circle of friends that would take a few dollars as a finders fee, before returning it.

100% I give it back. If it does not have the details then the police station here I come.

I found £10 some years back outside the shop and so we gave it to the shop saying someone left their money there. Anyway we should of just left it in my hands as the shop is now £10 richer FFS

It doesn't matter whose it is. They have issues like we do. They're probably worried sick about losing 5 thousand dollars and probably needed it to pay rent and their other bills. So I wouldn't tamper with the money in the wallet. I'd drop the wallet off at the police station. The authorities will contact the owner. I know what it feels like to lose my wallet with cash in it. The sad part is. No one showed me that mercy. They took my money, which was 200 dollars, and debit cards out of my wallet and I had to contact my bank and have them shut down.

I don't care either whose it is. It's their money; not mine or anybody else's. I'm not sure tho if I would try to find the person directly or go to the police & have them do it.
