I've been making edits to my site and forum as of late with the hopes to make it look unique enough that it may be hard to tell what software I use. I think this stems from my plan originally having been to use custom software originally and the idea my site looks enough like it's own thing is something I feel oddly drawn to. Anyone else here actively trying to something like that and I wonder how I did?

I like the use of graphics, and it's very clean looking, both of which are big plusses. The front page is eye-catching and provides a good bunch of content to lure people in. I can certainly tell what software it is, but I'm a bit more versed on that than the average user. Overall, I'd say mission accomplished here. It's well customized for your topic.

Thanks! I know there are also some aspects on it that might give it away, and I kind of figured somebody who's familiar with the software would probably be able to figure it out but to a fresh visitor, Maybe not as much heh.

One thing you might want to consider. At first glance, it appears to be a blog and not necessarily a forum. Maybe somewhere in the layout you could include a link to the forum page. I had to do that with the FAQ on my forums...I literally have a redirect to them right at the top of the forum list even though the button for it is right above it, just because of the size and where the eye is drawn to. But that's a personal preference thing; the layout is still good.

I mean to be fair... it's kinds turning into something like that, more of an articles site with a forum on it. There is a forum link in the nav bar though (unless I misread your advice?)

Right...what I meant was, the eye isn't really drawn to that link in the navbar, so you might wish to duplicate it within the page layout. I knew to look for it, but other users might not. Again, YMMV; if it's an articles site with a forum as the value-added, then this might be the effect you're looking for.

True, actually I think I may have an idea involving that. Thanks!
