Hey everyone,

Right well basically this is a little thing that I've thought of and I'd like to test everything I know about Lying, deception and human phycology and the way the body and the mind works and what it will do under pressure and time.

It's quite simple; you post a statement about yourself or something you've done, but it doesn't have to be true. Then I will then say weather your lying or not, simple as. Here is an example;

In my spare time, I enjoy train spotting.

Now I myself have never done that, and if someone posted that, I'd say, weather it's a lie or not. Now this is a lot harder on the internet and all, but it's worth a try. Get posting, it may take a few minutes to get an answer from me.

*This is just an experiment and I'm not an expert, if I get it wrong, it doesn't matter, it's just a test and I'm no expert at this anyway.

Edit: Also please don't actually lie about weather I got it right or not, it's just a test and saying I got it wrong when I didn't takes the fun side out of this as well.

You're right bro.

I once fell in a pond, and when I was pulled out I complained that a fish bit me.

I don't really like turtles as they are slow and serve very little purpose.

@Jonathan:

Okay right well I think it's also only fair that I say on how I come to an answer as well, and woop, first one right 🙂

Okay so first thing first, I got your first one right, so theoretically the average person will try there best for me to get it wrong. You use past tense and start it as if it was a story, you use "once I", such as "once upon a time" which indicates you have no personal relation to the story, you then say you were pulled out of the pond.

That suggests you were young when this happened as usually ponds are not to big in width or height. You then say that you complained that it bit you. You wouldn't complain as such if something that has no relation to you bit you. You also say that 'the fish' bit you, which means that there was only one fish in a pond which we don't know the size of.

Your response was just over a minute. Lying quickly and spontaneously takes longer, as long as it isn't rehearsed. If it is rehearsed then it would be much quicker.

So based on all evidence that you posted, I'm going with the assumption that you are lying, but wait; I got it right on the last comment, and you could perform a double bluff.

Jonathan, your lying.

Actually I'm telling the truth. A carp actually kind of sucked on my finger and for some reason it hurt.

No other evidence has been given except this comment, you were already viewing the forum and therefore probably didn't have any ideas on what the topic may be about, hence having little to know time on preparing the lie, however, I posted that a minute before, Jonathan had told the truth. The answer wasn't revealed by Jonathan though, it was after your post. Maybe you want to provide an incorrect answer as being different in what ever way possible to please on impression is something we always do.

Desireful, your telling a lie.

*Edit: @Jonathan: Oh right, well first one wrong so far 😳 🙂

Okay well for starters, Your not sure about your statement - you say you don't really like turtles. Your not saying you like them, and your not saying that you don't directly dislike them, your avoiding a direct answer to the statement. You also say that they are slow; turtles are known for being slow and picking up a common trait is something that we do when we lie, we're under pressure to this about what to say, hence you think of the first think that you know is associated with them. You also say they serve little purpose as well, they are a small animal and once again, you may not have directly thought about it but your inner thoughts triggered you to link to a previous trait you've already said; in a last effort to make your lie believable. Lastly judging by your opinions and previous comments on Forum Promotion, your feelings are strong and you seem to com across as someone with a sarcastic, but serious personality.

Based on all evidence I've gathered, you telling the truth.

I'm actually really good at lying and social engineer a lot and have a high rep in the hacking world for my skills in telling that people are lying and persuading people to do what I want and make them think what I want. 🙂

Truth or false?

Well I did think at first you we're telling the truth but, eh I got it wrong, well done I suppose? 🙂

-- 17 Aug 2010, 22:16 --

I'm tried, but no excuses. Right well first of all, no one is really good at lying, I'll save why for later. You say you have a "high rep". You didn't finish the word. You also refer to your so called credentials are skills rather than 'experience' and such, so hence you can't be over the age of 18. The lie seems farfetched, which is common in making people think that your lying, but evidence would suggest that gaining trust in what your saying will get me into believing that you are lying. You also use a smilie to finish your post off. But at the same time you also use a full stop, thus promoting me to think that you used the smilie as a last resort to make me think your lying, hence using it to make me believe that your not being serious. However the full stop is conclusive.

Your telling the truth.

To break down your experiment... There are people that are in fact good at lying... I didn't finish it 'cause I'm lazy like that and not really bothered about grammar, I'm a very laid back person. I'm in fact 17 but have been social engineering and such since I was 14. I use smiles a lot actually, it's just my childish nature. :3 I do actually use a full stop before I use smiles also... even when I'm lying but your right I'm telling the truth. 😀

Your not that bad ha ha, where are you learning from? Please say it's not from the show lie to me. XD

Another one for ya. 😉

I currently hold in my hand £20 and 47p. Truth or a lie?
