Do you allow people to login and register to your forum or blog using plugins for social network accounts?

Do you think they help increase registrations?

I think this is a good idea as it would make it easier for members to join. I currently don't have that feature on my forum but I plan on adding that feature soon. I think this will increase registrations as it makes it more simple for members who might be hesitant about joining.

That's a good idea. Usually the share it plugins help to share your website content or blog post to your visitors, and they help much to increase your social presence.

I've had bouts with such a feature, thinking that I'd get more regulars that way. No one really took advantage of that, so I decided to disable it for good. Not only that, but there were errors in the plugins that I used. Not worth it for me.

If people want to join a forum, they will. If they can't do something as basic as that, then you probably wouldn't want them around. I remember having to point out to a prospective member where to edit a post, quote someone, and so on. It's not rocket science.

Honestly, the first time I used these plugins to allow social network logins on my first forums which were for a tech and video game community I had the same experience - minus the bugs. But there was no increase in registrations, and from what I could tell, no one even used the feature. I think if you are going to provide the social network login features, people should have a reason to use them. If your site is for helping people promote their social network accounts, then I think it could be useful. Certain small niches may also get a boost by it as it could allow their members to more easily connect with each other since they share common interests.

If it is a news type site or a general discussion community, its probably not as useful.

I've always liked the sound of these plugins, but I've never used them before although I think it could help increase registration numbers.

I was always a fan of the integration software that was developed. My only concern is that I prefer to have both methods of people signing up because honestly some people really like to remain anonymous when signing up for forums and sites.

I personally use it, not only on forums, but when I have to log into apps on my iPhone or anything I always just use login with FB. Ingenious on FB's part.

Not currently. I think they would help because it's usually faster than creating an account the normal way. When we did have a plugin for this I remember some people had privacy concerns.

Yes, this type of plugin is a great idea, with the help of this you can easily share your website content. It will also increase number of registrations.
