I recall, about three - five years ago, people having major security problems with their forums because they used software installers like Softalicious. I personally enjoy the ease of access when using them, but can install software manually if I need to. Have things changed in the last few years, or are software installers still looked down upon?

The problem is hosts may still have old versions of the software which could have vulnerabilities. It's really easy to install it manually so it's beat to do it that way.

I don't usually use the One-Click installs on web hosts because installing PHP software like WordPress, phpBB, and Joomla are pretty simple if you already made a Database file, and have all the info for the database file.

I think one of the reasons software installers have more security problems is that the users of the software installer don't update their forum, blog, or CMS website to the latest version of their forum, blog, or CMS website since they never learn how to, or don't know they need to keep their website software updated.
