What do you think of software switching? Is it good or bad? I'm a person who never supports anything like that, especially there isn't a good reason, or to please the satisfactory of others, i've been Suggested to switch to Vbulletin for the reasons i mentioned in other topics, i stick to phpBB no matter what it takes.

If there is a valid reason behind it, certainly. It's not something you want to make a habit of, however, given how unstable software conversions can be at times.

However, I am, and always have been, content with MyBB and Joomla.

Nowadays, everything is a "valid reason" unfortunately, after all it is still up to the owners.

Speaking of Valid reasons, something like if you couldn't master phpBB, you may switch to something you find it much easier like MyBB, but not necessarily.

Well, if you can't master phpBB, you probably won't have a very good shot with MyBB either.

I define a "valid reason" as: Does the conversion offer something truly valuable to my community to merit the switch?

Paid softwares, such as Xenforo/vBulletin/IPB, are indeed quite shiny, but unless you're creating a forum for a professional business, there's really no reason you'd need them. With a bit of modification, both phpBB and MyBB can have the same exact features as all of them, and function just as well. And they won't take anything from your wallet.

This actually makes a point, i haven't thought of it either.
i personally can master phpBB ;p
