Some things not allowed on your forum

Most forums have a set of rules that dictate what can and cannot be posted.

Typically, if someone posts about these subjects, the post is removed and the member may receive a warning.

Some commonly forbidden subjects might include: blatant advertising/link spam, cross posting, personal real life contact info, profanity/vulgarity, posting objectionable or offensive images, discussion of illegal activities, hot linking, inflammatory (disrespectful) posts, religious/political discussions.

Another type of post that is likely to get deleted is when someone is clearly link building, such as posting 100 posts in one day with very little original or helpful content.

What are some of the forbidden topics/posts on your forum?

People actually post a hundred links in a single day? Posting a hundred links in a day would probably get someone flagged as a spambot by the system on AtomBB which would hide all of their posts, until a moderator investigates so, they wouldn't really get anywhere.

I mainly don't ban specific subjects, although illegal activites is something which I don't want anywhere near my forums. Spam is a common problem, even among the humans in my communities, including incredibly low quality posts like k or +1. This isn't a chatbox so, I don't see how people think that's worth having on the forums.

Generally I just don't forbid anything that breaks ZetaBoards Terms of Service. Otherwise, most stuff is allowed so long as it isn't trying to be rude or incite arguments, etc. Basically, just have common sense and decent etiquette with what you post and there shouldn't be problems.

typically most forums have the no advertising rule which in my opinion is the most important rule all forums should have due to the fact it will create a forum full of spam now if you have the time and staff to be able to separate legit ads vs spam ads that go for it but most new forums do not.
spam is hard to fight

My forums are actually very simple.

Do not post offensive, dishonest, or insulting content.
Do not post useless, irrelevant, or off-topic content.
Do not post racist, sexist, or bigoted content.
Do not post illegal content.
Do not post shocking, pornographic, or dangerous content.
Do not post unreadable content, or content not in the English language.

I don't think they have to be much more complicated than that. I also have an FAQ to clear out clarifications, but it really isn't all that necessary.

We're pretty relaxed, although we don't take kindly to content that is illegal, pornographic, hateful, or worthless.
