You setup your account, then you add your website. they will give you the code to add to your site then it will take 72 hours or so to see the ads showing.
What is it that's not working? Have you been disapproved or are you still waiting for your account to go through the approval stage? When I applied it took about two or three weeks to get going.
You need to make sure you have a lot of content on your website and that it doesn't violate any of the AdSense ToS and CoC.
I think I also have the same experience as original poster. My site was approved for Adsense but the ads are only showing up as cyan blue boxes on my site. And this is about three or weeks now. I must admit, there is not a lot of traffic coming to my site at the moment.
If you follow Google AdSense Terms and Conditions and make sure that you had all these conditions fro your sites then it has no reason for Google reject your site.
In the other words, you should focus on these factors to get approve quickly from Google adsense.
Quality content
High traffic (no require but it should have this)
more than 6 months old for your website.
