something different

Been on quite a few forums now and there is one thing that is really starting to bug me...... THERE ALL THE SAME!!

Promotion, Gaming, Reviews, Music, Films, Books, the list goes on.There are few niche forums these days and all the very inactive very small forums will always be inactive because there the same as every other board on the net. I have seen countless dead forums with 100posts because they have been "film forums"
just like the 1000s of other film forums out there......

I want to do something different. Something popular, something NEW! If its been done then I don't want to know and I need some inspiration. Of course no one hear will think of a new idea and post it, you would just go make it yourself. Instead I am looking for inspiration and any ideas where I might find the "next big thing".

I'm sure coke fans would love it 😛 But once you made a post about coke with Smirnoff , Bacardi and Amaretto there wouldn't be much else to talk about 😛

Hopefully you find the right idea soon, you just need to explore, get to the core of the topic you are interested in. I have a few forum plans that will hopefully bring freestylers in.

Find something more specific. For example, there's a ton of gaming forums out there, but you could narrow it down to say a PC gaming forum (yeah, that's been done a billion times, but you get the idea).

A lot of forums try to be too broad, but if you can find something specific that also has a dedicated fan base then you've got better chances to start a good forum.

Well, everything has been done before, but just find something your interested in, know something about it, and isn't to common. I honestly can't think of anything new, but I hope you find the right idea!

You have to make something that you like.

For example, I made a baseball forum because I love baseball. The advantage is you can be creative and post a lot of content on it because you know it well.

It just annoys me when there are 1000s forums about the same thing. Why can't they all just join together and be one! they all share similar posts, similar rules its just different people are in charge

It comes down to one thing, everybody wants to be in charge. Life is like a movie, everyone wants to rise from the little guy to the top of the world, it just rarely happens. It's also because people like me make a hobby out of running forums and it may not be about taking over the world at all :lol:

All you can do is find something your passionate about and knowledgeable in and put your heart into it. It may become a big fresh hit to the online world, it may not. But should it matter?
